Doctor of Nursing Practice

Adult Nurse Practitioner

Why study to be an Adult Nurse Practitioner at the University of Florida ?

Adult nurse practitioners are educated to diagnose and manage acute and chronic diseases, taking a holistic approach to meet the medical, psychosocial and functional needs of older persons.

The need for adult nurse practitioners is growing as our nation's older adult population continues to expand with baby boomers nearing retirement age. Adult nurse practitioners are expert nurses prepared at the master's degree level who provide, direct, and influence the care of adults and their families in a variety of settings. These nurses are uniquely prepared to improve outcomes of care, promote quality of life, and provide comprehensive care for adults.

As part of a world-class Health Science Center, the UF College of Nursing offers Adult Nurse Practitioner track students access to a unique variety of clinical experiences in adult health care settings such as ambulatory clinics and nursing homes, as well as one of the strongest cores of nursing faculty members in aging in the country. Graduate students at UF have excellent opportunities to explore nursing research and science, be professionally involved with student and professional governance, and have access to clinical experiences with patients across the life and cultural span.
