Teaching: Dr. Schaffer teaches Family Nurse Practitioner clinical and role courses. She is also the chair of the Department of Women's, Children's and Family Nursing.

Research: Dr. Schaffer is interested in developing strategies to improve adherence to asthma preventive medication in adults. Her currently funded study will explore the effects of Vicks Vaporub on toenail onychomycosis.

Service: Dr. Schaffer is currently a member of the Health Sciences Institutional Review Board (IRB01). She is a member of Florida Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau, and the Southern Nursing Research Society.

Clinical Practice: Dr. Schaffer practices at Archer Family Health Care in Archer, Florida.

Education: Dr. Schaffer received her BS in Nursing and her MS in Family Nursing at Old Dominion University. She received her PhD in Nursing at George Mason University.
